HOW A SAINT SLEEPS AT NIGHT IN THE MIDST OF TRIBULATION…

Psalm 3
HOW A SAINT SLEEPS AT NIGHT IN THE MIDST OF TRIBULATION…
LORD, how they have increased that trouble me! Many are they that rise up       against me!
Many there be that say of my soul, "There is no help for him in God." Selah
But Thou, O LORD, art a shield for me, my glory and the lifter up of mine head.
I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill. Selah

These verses ring of the taunting words and abuse of the two robbers, the chief priests, scribes and elders [Matthew 27:38-44].  We frankly feel this kind of hurt especially when a brother in the faith wrongs us. But as soon as these dark feelings come, let us raise a hymn of praise to Him, and He will hold my face in His hands and listen because He loves me.

I laid me down and slept; I awaked, for the LORD sustained me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about.

This is how we can truly rest – He will take care of this difficult thing – I can sleep a blessed sleep. As a doctor I am thinking about depression, fibromyalgia and chronic pain (I am writing a book about this difficult subject).  My enemies, my pain are real to me, but I will give them to my Almighty God and ask for His grace just for tonight – so I can rest in Him. And I will awake with a song of praise in the morning. I will not fear remembering His deliverance in times past and because “This I know, that He is for me.” [Psalm 56:9b]

Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! For Thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheekbone; Thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Salvation belongeth unto the LORD. Thy blessing is upon Thy people. Selah

Stay in prayer. Ask the brethren to pray with you. “Arise, O Lord.” Grant me your grace for this one more day, because I know of your faithfulness which endures to all generations, and which I have seen and have experimented in my family and my own life. Grant your loving grace and healing hand for the pain of today and tonight. Send someone to help and I will know it is from You O Great Physician! Your blessing be on my body, my soul, my spirit and my family. Thank You Lord. I love You and I know You love me even more than I can imagine. Amen. Salvation belongs to You, lest any man should boast. Your blessing is upon your children and I will awake in the morning as a songbird with a song of praise in my lips!

BLESSED ARE ALL THEY THAT PUT THEIR TRUST IN HIM … (Psalm 2)

A Psalm in 4 stanzas regarding the final victory of Jesus the King of Kings over His enemies.

Stanza I
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people devise a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
3 "Let us break Their bonds asunder, and cast away Their cords from us."

The heathen, the godless, rage. They would be more violent except for a restraining of The Spirit of God, the laws of the land, and the mask of civility. Just watch the “heathen” when “evolution” or “abortion” are even threatened. They rage because they willfully reject God and His truth, His Son and the Message. I see the stoning of Steven and “the heathen” closing their ears and raging. In a way, there is something ridiculous about the picture: mere enraged humans plotting to go against Almighty God and against His Anointed.

Stanza II
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh; the LORD shall hold them in derision.
5 Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure:
6 "Yet have I set My King upon My holy hill of Zion."

In fact God sitting on His throne in all His majesty, laughs at them. He could snap His little finger and sling them to the other end of the universe, or slam-dunk them into the black hole in the Belt of Orion. Yet, He simply speaks and waits for the fullness of time, and goes about His business of The Kingdom of His dear Son. He is coming to Zion. Amen. Come Lord Jesus!

Stanza III
7 "I will declare the decree: The LORD hath said unto Me, `Thou art My Son; this day have I begotten Thee.
8 Ask of Me, and I shall give Thee the heathen for Thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for Thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.'"

Here is the Son declaring the decree of the Most High. “You are my Son, and I have given you Jews and Gentiles for a people to be and to share your inheritance and the whole earth for your possession. I have given you the power to break up your enemies into bits and dust.

Stanza IV
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings; be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.

The Son graciously addresses the kings of the earth: “Be wise, be instructed, see the evidence. Hear my Word. Be in awe and serve Jehovah with fear and joy and trembling. Make peace with the Son now lest you end up as dust. His grace offers a blessing if…. “Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him,”

PSALM 1 - HOW BLESSED IS THE MAN...

PSALM 1 HOW BLESSED IS THE MAN

… (Psalm 1)
1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

Oh the joys, the blessings to the man who hears God say, “Oh that they had such a heart in them, that they would fear Me and keep all My commandments always.”(Deut.5:29) The man who is blessed longs to have such a heart, but when he falls short he knows that in Jesus
the righteousness that God prescribes
is the righteousness that God provides.

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.

Truly, he delights greatly in the Lord’s works and words. Looking to Jesus from Genesis to Revelation, in wonder and awe considering the things he can’t even see in the beauty of His works, from a tiny lacewing and a butterfly, to the heavens, the sunrise, the sunset, to the Psalms and the whole Bible. Thank you Lord Jesus for the marvelous works of your hands, and the blessed full of grace words of your Bible, and your mission for me!

3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.

Now he can be a fruitful tree… not on his own, but by abundant water... for God Himself is his source. Jeremiah 17:8 adds, “[he] will not fear when the heat comes [when a brother hurts him; when another is disappointed in him because he failed some standard; or when a dream collapses]. But its leaves will be green [he will grab on to God’s grace and strength and continue to show Jesus in his face, words and actions, and be a refreshment for others], And [he] will not be anxious in a year of drought [he will have perfect peace because his mind is steadfast on Jesus Who said “Peace be still”], nor cease to yield fruit [and God’s works through him will flow to bless others].” And that is prosperity.

4 The wicked are not so, but they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

Not so the ungodly, not so (said the Septuagint). His future is terrifying and he desperately needs to repent and come to the water and drink freely so he too can be blessed. This is the thrust of our mission always.

6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that through His poverty you might become rich.”(2 Cor.8:9)
